Morrie Cramer

Sculptor/Performer/Filmmaker

Well known for his body casts of bondage women, Morrie Cramer’s art is in a special class by itself. His extensive series of sculptures are powerful casts of female torsos tied with ropes, chicken wire and other materials in different positions.

His sculptural motives also include fetish images influenced to some extent by the late pioneer illustrator Eric Stanton.

An accomplished and refined artist, he has exhibited drawings and sculptures continuously since the mid 1980’s in galleries in New York, Los Angeles and in Sweden. In addition, he is a performance artist as well as a filmmaker.

He studied at Syracuse University, New York where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts, and later at the Hornsey College of Art in London, England. After a 1991 punk show in his studio with seven live bands, he decided to travel and wandered throughout the US for three years before returning to work on his sculptures.

Mr. Cramer’s works are in collections in the US and Europe. Since 2001 until now he has been involved in writing and shooting a feature film entitled Bullet Ballet. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
